🚀 The Liftero⌝
At Liftero, we are at the forefront of the Industry 4.0 revolution, developing cutting-edge in-space transportation technologies. We believe that the space ecosystem is the next frontier for our civilization, with new opportunities waiting to be unlocked. As part of our mission to build and operate in-space transportation infrastructure, we are developing the reusable orbital transfer vehicle Motus™, an essential building block that can be likened to a truck for ground or an aircraft for air transportation in space.
Despite the lofty goals, we are very human and down-to-earth in our approach to the employee, understanding that achieving stars can be made only with a motivated and dedicated team.
👨🚀 The role
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of structure and mechanisms for the Motus spacecraft. You will lead the mechanical team and work with cross-functional teams including system engineers, electrical engineers and propulsion engineers. Your work will be focused on the design, development, integration and testing of the structure, thermal subsystems and mechanisms.
📝 Key responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and implementation of the structure, thermal and mechanisms subsystems for the Motus spacecraft, including requirements analysis, architecture design, testing, and integration.
Collaborate with technical teams, including systems engineers, propulsion engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers, and others, to deliver required spacecraft performance.
Design and analysis of mechanical and structural systems for the Motus spacecraft, including components, assemblies, and subsystems.
Review manufacturing processes, quality control procedures, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with design specifications.
Material selection, manufacturing techniques, and production optimization to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing of mechanical and structural components.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, test reports, and engineering change orders, to ensure comprehensive documentation of mechanical and structural engineering activities.
🎇 Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
Experience in technical team management.
5+ years experience in a similar position
👋 Preferred Qualifications
Strong experience in mechanical and structural design, analysis, and testing, preferably in the aerospace or space industry.
Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Catia, or similar. GD&T knowledge preferably
Knowledge of mechanical and structural analysis tools, such as FEA software (e.g., ANSYS).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Experience with manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication techniques for mechanical and structural components.
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will play a vital role in advancing the field of in-space transportation technology, contributing to the success of cutting-edge space missions, and pushing the boundaries of human knowledge and exploration beyond Earth. Join us now 🤑
