🚀 The Liftero⌝
At Liftero, we are at the forefront of the Industry 4.0 revolution, developing cutting-edge in-space transportation technologies. We believe that the space ecosystem is the next frontier for our civilization, with new opportunities waiting to be unlocked. As part of our mission to build and operate in-space transportation infrastructure, we are developing the reusable orbital transfer vehicle Motus™, an essential building block that can be likened to a truck for ground or an aircraft for air transportation in space.
Despite the lofty goals, we are very human and down-to-earth in our approach to the employee, understanding that achieving stars can be made only with a motivated and dedicated team.
👨🚀 The role
As a Lead Propulsion Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of the chemical propulsion system for the Motus spacecraft. You will lead the propulsion team and work with cross-functional teams including system engineers, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers. You will contribute to the development, testing, and production of subsystems and the entire system.
📝 Key responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and implementation of chemical propulsion system for the Motus spacecraft, including requirements analysis, architecture design, testing, and integration.
Collaborate with technical teams, including systems engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers, and others, to deliver required spacecraft performance.
Design and analysis of the chemical propulsion system including feed system, valves, thrust chamber, injector and ignition subsystem.
Develop propulsion system concepts, perform trade studies, and select appropriate technologies and components.
Analyze propulsion system performance using simulation tools and models.
Develop test stands for individual subsystems and entire MPS system testing including thrust balance, TVAC stands,
Develop test campaign scenarios and perform tests.
🎇 Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, propulsion engineering or similar
Experience in chemical propulsion system design, analysis, and testing.
5+ years experience in a similar position
👋 Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Catia, or similar. GD&T knowledge preferably
Knowledge of mechanical, fluidic, and structural analysis tools, such as FEA software (e.g., ANSYS).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Experience in technical team management.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Experience with manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication techniques for mechanical and structural components.
